The resort only will be accessible to drivers via Route 50 at the Harry W. Kelley Memorial Bridge, or from Delaware along Route 1 or 54.
Eastbound traffic on the Ocean City Expressway will find Jersey wall barriers at the Isle of Wight, and will be re-routed along St. Martins Neck Road.
An SHA inspection at the end of September found the center span of the bridge over the Assawoman Bay to be deteriorating, with concrete-bound steel supports crumbling and exposed to the elements. The bridge subsequently was closed to vehicles exceeding 6,000 lbs. since Oct. 1.
SHA says the project is slated for completion by mid-December, weather permitting.
